Is Rolfing Painful?

"The fear of being hurt stops me from trying Rolfing". You already are in pain, what is the point in adding to that?

Not any more! Rolfing Technique has this old 70’s reputation to be painful as a “No pain No gain" type.
The good news is a lot of things have changed since then, as well as the Rolfing technique.
Nevertheless, Rolfing stigma of being painful remains present, at the expense of people who would benefit from this technique.

After someone you met told you about his Rolfing experience and his first words are "it hurts like hell" even though the source of pain was in fact solved, they did not have a good Rolfing experience. In fact, Rolfing is not about hurting a person, is about unwinding and reshaping the body to a better posture.

What can be expected from going through the 10 sessions?

How the work is experienced is completely unique to each individual. Chronic pain can be reduced and many times goes away completely. Stillness in the tissue created by holding patterns or repeated movements is relieved, giving a new pattern of movement in the body. The result is better posture and pain relief translating in an improved experience of daily life. For more information

What to wear?

Please BRING OR WEAR the appropriate closing.

Rolfing is traditionally done with the client in his or her underwear. However, you may wear gym attire (athletic shorts for men, shorts and a sports bra for women) if you feel more comfortable.

Please do not wear clothing that is bulky or that restricts movement.

Men: please ensure that your shorts are above the knee – long, baggy shorts make identifying structural imbalances difficult.

Woman: no Yoga/Pilates leggings. You are welcome to change clothing once you arrive at my practice.
